Cory Monteith Overdosed On Heroin And Alcohol

Since 31-year old dudes who recite lines for a living don't usually drop dead for no reason, the official cause of death of Cory Monteith is the least surprising official cause of death since the hoodie. Us Weekly reports:

Cory Monteith died of an accidental drug and alcohol overdose, British Columbia Coroners Service confirmed Tuesday, July 16 in a statement. Found dead at age 31 at his hotel room this past Saturday, the Glee actor "died of a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol," the press release reveals, citing an autopsy and toxicological testing. "There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most-tragic accident," the report continues. "Mr. Monteith's family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time."

I'm not going to sit here and say an addict who overdoes a "most-tragic accident", because well, it's not. Unless he slipped and fell in a pile of heroin then got up slid into a pool of Jack Daniels without a life raft, let's not pretend he didn't know exactly what he was doing. Which I assume was trying to find out the easiest way to break up with Lea Michelle.

Cory Monteith Died

Glee star and Lea Michele's kinda sorta boyfriend, Cory Monteith, 31, was found dead in a Canadian hotel room Saturday night. He got out of rehab on April 26th. Us Weekly reports:

Cory Monteith's life was cut tragically short on Saturday, July 13. The Glee star, who celebrated his 31st birthday on May 11, was found dead in a hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada, police announced in a press conference. According to Vancouver PD, emergency personnel arrived at the hotel shortly after noon, at which point Monteith was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics. The coroner is investigating cause of death. Foul play is not suspected. "We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate," the actor's rep said in a statement to Us Weekly shortly after news broke of the tragedy. "We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."

There's been lots of speculation as to the cause of Cory Monteith's death, but I think it's important that we don't jump to conclusions and let law enforcement investigate and complete their process and due dilliegence. But most importantly, we shouldn't bring race into this that might harm American and Canadian hotel relations that this country has spent years trying to cultivate. Maybe the Canadian hotel was trying to defend itself.
