Although she’d lived in California for years, Britney Spears had never bothered to get a California license or learn to drive when she committed a hit and run that was caught on tape last year. The hit and run was settled, but for over a year, Britney’s lawyers have been trying to get the driving without a license charge dismissed. It isn’t. TMZ reports:
“Common sense has not prevailed. Britney Spears’ driving without a license trial will continue as scheduled, according to a ruling released today. Brit and her people were trying to have the case put on hold or dismissed entirely. But alas, things will go on as planned. A pretrial hearing is set for tomorrow with the real thing set to begin next Wednesday. Just a reminder — this is a trial over a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid California driver’s license. It’s not like she broke into a hotel room with a few armed friends in an attempt to steal back sports memorabilia. Priorities, people.”
It’s a good thing California is about to go bankrupt, because maybe they’ll finally get rid of the law that makes it illegal for celebrities to be held accountable for their actions. Too bad they waited too long to start charging celebrities fines and court costs. They probably would’ve needed a fire-breathing dragon or an undead army to guard that mountain of gold by now.
